What is Fremont Street famous for
Fremont Street, located in the downtown Las Vegas entertainment district of the Miracle Mile Shops Strip at the intersection of South Main and Fremont Streets, is known for a lot of things: The Fremantle Market. Fremont East District. Nightlife. Restaurants. Shopping. And of course, being home to plenty of casinos—including the iconic Bellagio Hotel. But one thing that many visitors may not be aware of is how historic Fremont Street really is. Even though we now know it as just another bustling stretch of the Las Vegas Boulevard, this part of town was once the epicenter of New Town.
And it wasn’t the first time either. For thousands of years before the gold boom in the 1850s, Native Americans used this area as a thriving trading center. Here they met with Spanish explorers and traders who were searching for the El Dorado mine. Later, during the California Gold Rush, the busy thoroughfare became one of the most popular routes from San Francisco to Nevada’s booming territory. It quickly became known far beyond the state lines by what remained standing today: the original Fremont Street Mall.
Fremont Street Experience
The Fremont Street Experience (or FSE) is a pedestrian mall and entertainment district at the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. It features attractions such as shopping malls, restaurants, nightclubs, theaters, and performance venues. The complex spans from Russell Road to Charleston Boulevard.
History. As part of a $1 billion reconstruction project that began in April 2009 with construction lasting 2½ years, the city removed more than 50 vintage neon signs along the street, many of which had been in disrepair since the 1970s. Of the 1,200 existing neon signs on the street, only 375 remain but some of them have been replaced with LED lights. Many other new signs bearing images of famous entertainers such as Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra were installed as well. Today, the street is completely closed to all vehicles except emergency vehicles and people driving food delivery trucks.

Is Fremont Street Safe in Vegas?
Fremont Street has long been a major attraction for tourists and locals looking to enjoy the nightlife of Las Vegas. During the day, it is home to some of the most popular tourist attractions in the city including the infamous street performers who entertain visitors as they stroll down its sidewalk cafes. But at night with all the action going on there it can be hard for people trying to walk down the street safely.
According to data collected by the police department during the year 2000, crime had a higher rate on Fremont Street than anywhere else in the city. While this may seem like a good thing for business when considering foot traffic alone, it also means more chances for things to go wrong.
Las Vegas Police Department statistics showed that from January 1st to December 31st, 2000, there were 11 homicides in Fremont Street in comparison to 27 elsewhere in the city.
Is Fremont Street worth visiting
Worth the effort? Yes, for those who want to see a slice of Las Vegas history. But it’s not that good and only a few attractions are open on weekends.
The Strip offers lots of action, but there aren’t many must-sees here. The new Mob Museum is a big hit with kids, while you can learn about Sinatra at an intimate tribute show at Harrah’s. For something completely different, catch a performance at Cirque du Soleil’s Kà. Getting around it takes less than 15 minutes to drive between the Strip and the Fremont Experience. Once there, you can easily take the monorail from the Strip to Main Street Station and catch the free light rail service into town. If you prefer walking, taking public transport is your best option. You will find a stop right next to the Fremont Experience where buses leave every 20 minutes for downtown hotels.
Do you have to wear a mask on Fremont Street?
The answer is “yes,” if you want to keep from getting sick.

Type A has been active in the United States since 1918 with more than 50 different strains. There was another pandemic, which occurred between 1957 and 1958 but did not cause any deaths here.
