Juan Les Pins

Juan Les Pins for many years was the only major city on the entire Côte d’Azur from Marseille to Italy. In the heyday of the Romans, this city was called Antibulus and was one of the major centers of trade in the Mediterranean.

Today, Juan Les Pins, located in the administrative district of Antibes, is the second-largest city in the Alpes-Maritimes. The population of the city is approximately 80,000 people. The city is located between Cannes and Nice, and in some ways, this location can be called ideal. You can rent a car in Nice airport and drive to Juan Les Pins only for 30 minutes. The city is surrounded by one of the most beautiful coastlines, its length is about 25 km. Luxurious beaches stretch along the coastline. A huge number of private estates and villas are buried in amazingly beautiful gardens, green parks lure in shade and coolness. Diverse restaurants lure visitors with the smells of gourmet Mediterranean cuisine, while casinos and nightclubs promise a host of unique experiences. In addition to all this, the water park called Marineland invites you to visit an amazing performance with the participation of not only such cute creatures as dolphins but also majestic killer whales.

Sights include the fort of Caret and fortifications that have been preserved since 1710. They were built according to the project of Vauban, a French engineer. The city also has the Napoleonic Museum, the Picasso Museum, and the Maritime Museum.

Glory came to the town in the 20s of the last century. After the end of the First World War, Americans went here on vacation. They discovered a wonderful climate and beautiful beaches. But along with the Americans, Negro jazz also came to the small town, which became a kind of electric shock for those close to the English mores of the then society. Not wanting to stop there, the Americans opened the first casino in Juan le Pins in the 1920s. After the Second World War died down, jazz gained citizenship on these shores, bold bikinis replaced modest bathing suits, and Jean le Pin gained the status of a fashionable resort. Hollywood stars come here to play weddings, the streets of the town are filled with dancing crowds of vacationers mixed with local residents, artists and just billionaires from all over the world have fun here. And the fashionable status, in addition to a variety of entertainment, makes golden youth come here.

Famous people such as Marlene Dietrich, Prevert, Graham Greene, and Kazantzakis loved the old city and visited it with pleasure. These places gave people the creativity of such great masters of the world as Anatole France, Ernest Hemingway, and Picasso.

But the city gained the greatest fame thanks to the world jazz festival held here since 1960.

It should be noted that no matter what new directions and trends change the world around, Juan Les Pins, being a modern fashionable resort, still has not lost that unique charm that is inherent in Provence.
